The Opposition -

As the proponents for the new Town were making their case, at the same time various people (and organizations) started to voice their opposition...

These included -

Commercial enterprises who would see their businesses phased out (under the "no commerce" clause) over the next 20 years - the main ones being the Adobe Creek Lodge and the Neary Quarry. Some people genuinely concerned that having their own Town (with its associated "government") was bound to cost the taxpayers more money - by having to pay for road maintenance, a Police force, infrastructure needed for water supply, and similar expenses incurred by typical suburbia.
