Los Altos Trails Club

Introduction
The Los Altos Trails Club pre-dated the Town of Los Altos Hills by over ten years - the founding President of the Trails Club being John Fowle who went on to become a major figure in the founding of the town as well. He is perhaps best known for donating the land on which the Los Altos Hills Town Hall was built and stands to this day.

The charter of the club was formally stated as:

"The purpose of the Los Altos Trails Club is to further the pleasures of horseback riding for the residents of Los Altos and vicinity and for their guests.
Membership was gained by invitation from a current member in good standing, and was granted after a successful introductory trail ride with another member. A membership roster was published annualy, the one for the year 1989-1990 is shown below. .
